We Hereby Declare: The 2016 Ministry of Culture and Sports Prize for Visual Arts and Design
“We hereby declare” is a quote from the most famous event that took place at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art – the 1948 Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel. Almost 70 years after the declaration, we hereby declare in Bat Yam. The prize exhibition brings the creative and innovative works of contemporary artists alongside the works of artists who have contributed to the Israeli art scene. The winning works present the diversity of Israeli art and bring to the fore the relations between art and the state. The prize for the Encouragement of Creativity, the Young Artist Award, the Design Award, the Video Art Award and the Life Achievement Award in the Plastic Arts.
